Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus, born in Alençon, France, was a barefoot Carmelite nun. He was an influential model of holiness for Catholics and had a practical and simple way of approaching the spiritual life.
Teresa was a devotee of the Child Jesus, to whom she dedicated many writings, poetry and prayers.
The Carmelite saint, even with a contemplative life, became the patron of the missions and doctor of the Church.
She died very young, on September 30, 1897, at just 24 years old, a victim of tuberculosis.
The day of Santa Teresinha is celebrated on the 1st of October.
