Tile - Don Bosco
Giovanni Melchior Bosco, also known as Saint John Bosco, was an Italian Catholic priest, born on August 16, 1815 and died on January 31, 1888. From an early age he wanted to be a priest and, despite his difficult childhood, he managed to carry out his dream. His mother, Margaret, who had been widowed when he was just two years old, influenced him to lead a humble and prayerful life. Don Bosco became a man of work and prayer, devoted to Our Lady Help of Christians and very dedicated to the most disadvantaged young people. He was a "Father and Teacher of youth", as St. John Paul II acclaimed him. He founded the Congregation of the Salesians, dedicated to the protection of St. Francis de Sales, to help young people. He was proclaimed a saint in 1934.
